After unluckily going out of the FA Cup in a 2nd Qualifying Round replay at home to Harrow the previous Tuesday, United turned their attention to the county cup and a potential banana skin against their United Counties League Division 1 opponents from north Bucks.
Although the Ducks were in total command and never looked like losing it took them 25 minutes to breach a stout Olney defence. Mark Heeley crossed in from the right and the unmarked John Davie's header was strong enough despite keeper Ken Rainey getting his hands to it.
O'Callaghan almost equalised moments later when his shot was deflected onto the United bar and although the visitors showed plenty of endeavor in the second half, they rarely threatened.
Olney suffered a blow on 73 minutes when keeper Rainey went off with a dislocated shoulder and sub Ian Moffatt (with no goalkeeping experience to hand) replaced him. However, he made one particularly good save from Heeley's shot within minutes of coming on.
The Ducks eventually scored again in stoppage time when debutant Peter Arch sent a good through ball to Peter Coffill who fired past an unguarded Moffatt but they should have had many more goals.
