Despite a frantic onslaught by the Ducks in the last five minutes, Aylesbury again suffered an away defeat in the Conference at Altrincham. Danny Crerand, son of former Old Trafford favourite Paddy made his league debut for the home side, and his watching proud father must have been impressed with his offspring, who dictated matters in midfield.
Alty's early strike came after only 6 minutes when a through ball by Shaw found Mountford unmarked on the right side of the penalty area with both Angol and Essex caught cold, and he coolly slotted home past Garner from 12 yards.
Aylesbury's first real noteworthy effort came midway through the half when a snapshot from Boyland was blocked by another former Manchester United player, keeper Jeff Wealands. At the other end Baker sidefooted a goal following a free kick, but the effort was ruled out for pushing.
Just after the interval James replaced Seasman who twisted his ankle early on, and this released Hercules to his normal front running role.
Garner kept hopes alive with a low diving save to his right to keep out a long range effort from Crerand and then Hercules played a classic 1-2 with Lawrence but his shot lacked power and Wealands easily saved.
The latter part of the game saw Aylesbury moving forward at will, and in the last five minutes Boyland flashed an 18 yard effort just over the bar and a goalbound piledriver from Hutter struck a defender.
In stoppage time Hutter rode two tackles and was brought down from behind on the right edge of the 18 yard box. The resulting free kick saw Lissaman chip the ball over the defensive wall towards the top left corner of the goal, and just when it seemed Aylesbury were to be rewarded with a point, Wealands showed his undoubted class to tip the ball over the bar for a corner, but the home side prayers were answered with the referee calling time before the kick was taken.
