Just two days previous in fact United had beaten a strong Wycombe Wanderers team at Adams Park in the County Cup, but with a number of injuries things didn't look promising going into the match at Scraley Road.
Local youngster Mark Timberlake made his debut in goal for the Ducks and put in a solid performance as his side surprisingly dominated for long periods. Veteran striker Kevin Davies drew first blood, putting Aylesbury ahead ten minutes before the break, with a powerful header from a Kieran Gallagher cross.
There were no more goals until a late second half surge saw three in as many minutes. Davies set up Mick Swaysland to blast home with just four minutes remaining and then two minutes later a handball in the area presented Matt Carmichael the chance to add to the tally from the spot. He duly sent Kingsley Banks the wrong way and United started to celebrate.
Gary Caldon scored a consolation for the home side to prevent Timberlake recording a clean sheet, but the points were secure - Aylesbury's first double of the season.
