It was a lacklustre first half which saw a below par United performance and the visitors' best chance in the first 45 minutes came when Gary Crawshaw combined with on loan QPR striker Michael Mahoney-Johnson to set up Ian King, who made a mess of an attempted chip when the ball bobbled badly. They also went close in the 28th minute when Warren Kelly's header was cleared off the line following a corner.
The hosts went close to breaking the deadlock in the 48th minute when Frank Coles' well hit volley was heading for the corner until Ducks on loan (from Spurs) keeper Simon Brown (in for the surprisingly dropped Richard Wilmot) dived low to his right to claw the ball out.
The Ducks' performance improved marginally in the second half but the only save Bromley keeper Danny Harwood had to make came when a volley from Lee Harvey flew straight into his arms following a set piece.
Then in the 60th minute with Bob Dowie's side having not remotely looked like scoring until then, the game's only moment of class saw the visitors break the deadlock with a goal out of nothing. Harvey controlled a bouncing ball on his chest, flicked it over a Bromley player and unleashed a stunning volley from fully 30 yards into the corner which left Harwood grasping at thin air to score his 1st goal for the club on his 100th appearance.
