United's heads visibly dropped and they dropped even further on 38 minutes when Warren Kelly lashed out at Wood and was sent off by referee Mr Legg.
Surely it couldn't get worse - but it did three minutes from the break. A backpass from Kevin Davies was pounced on by Wood who then clashed with Des Gallagher. With United's keeper on the deck Wakefield collected the ball and slotted into the net to put Havant & Waterlooville 3-0 up.
Six minutes into the second half Lee Cook cut inside from the wing and passed to Kieran Gallagher who buried a low shot past Brown to give United a glimmer of hope.
But the experienced backline of the visitors gave little away and United made little headway. That was until 79 minutes when Lee Cook won a free kick just outside the box and Ian King curled a superb kick over the wall and Brown to make it 2-3 and extra time was a distinct possibility.
However five minutes from time Kevin Davies gave the ball straight to Wyatt, although there seemed little danger. But, from at least 35-yards out, Wyatt lobbed over Des Gallagher to put the issue beyound doubt.
