Honours remained even once more following an entertaining derby on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd January. It didn't look too good for United however when Slough got off to a great start, taking the lead after only six minutes. Aaron Patton headed on a Dave Rainford corner and Dwight Marshall, with his back to goal, swivelled to fire the ball past Gary Phillips.

But United hit back well and on 12 minutes Kevin Davies forced keeper Danny Honey into a fine save. Later on, Honey made an even better save from a Mason free kick, brought about when Hannigan held back Gary Crawshaw when he was clean through. The experienced Hannigan was mighty lucky only to receive a yellow card from referee Mr Keegan.

After 40 minutes Marcus Richardson wasted a great chance for Slough, and on 42 minutes United levelled when Bobby Highton squared the ball back to Oliver Squires who fired low past Honey.

Seconds before the break Slough re-took the lead following a corner. Phillips did well to parry Hannigan's header and Richardson made no mistake from close range.

It didn't take United long to get back on level terms again - around 40 seconds into the second half. From a Mason free kick into the box, Honey punched clear to Ollie Stanbridge who was fully 40-yards out. Stanbridge then chipped 'Beckham style' over the stranded keeper for a stunning goal.

Honey then foiled Highton with his legs and Phillips equalled his opposite number with a good save from Marshall. Highton fired over after good work by Kevin Davies, whilst in the closing stages Slough's Chris White did the same at the other end.

United's point was hard-fought and richly deserved, but three points were to be required in the Ducks were to drag themselves out of their relegation dog-fight.
