Aldershot had been something of a lucky ground for Aylesbury and the Ducks had never lost there. But with United struggling at the wrong end of the table and the home side still harbouring outside hopes of promotion, maintaining that record looked unlikely.
It looked even more improbable midway through the first half when Gary Abbott's shot deflected off Darren Grieves and into the net. United rallied though and Gary Crawshaw had a number of chances to level.
Aldershot went off the boil somewhat as the game dragged on and the deserved equaliser came in the final minute of the game. Crawshaw played an inch perfect pass to Phil Mason who ran through and coolly chipped the ball over Andy Pape. United's record was intact but more importantly a precious point was secured.
