Honours were even in this uninspiring tie between the Ducks and the artists formerly known as VS Rugby.
Aylesbury had the better of the early chances with Highton shooting wide from long range and Callinan having a shot saved by the Rugby keeper following a strong run down the right hand side by Danny Honeyball.
James Courtnage was called into action for the first time on 15 minutes when Robbie Beard dribbled his way through the Ducks defence and forced Courtnage to rush off his line and perform a save.
The visitors took the lead on 37 minutes when the Aylesbury defence failed to clear and the ball feel at the feet of Chris Evans who hammered home via the foot of Peter Clifford.
The Ducks forced their way back into the game in 1st half injury time when Roni Joe picked up the ball six yards from goal and managed to turn and squeeze the ball home.
Ten minutes into the second half Rugby had two chances to take the lead. The first saw Courtnage push a Beard header onto the post and the second saw an unmarked Ian Pearce head wide from no more than six yards out.
The focus then turned to the Rugby goal. Scott Honeyball headed inches over and a minute later when he saw a powerful shot cleared off the line. Aylesbury had a further chance when Hendra fired over from close range after a superb Kieran Gallagher cross.
Aylesbury piled on the pressure with Scott Honeyball having another goal-bound shot cleared off the line. However it was not to be and a replay was required to separate the teams and decide who made the long trip to Tiverton in the second round.
