The early exchanges were fairly even before the home side scored what was to be the only goal of the game on 32 minutes. Gavin Jaggard's superb through ball split the Aylesbury defence in half and Mark Paul used his pace to latch onto the ball and hemmer it past the out-rushing James Courtnage.
The home side were denied the chance to double their lead 2 minutes later when Simon Connell cleared Carl Drew's goalbound shot off the line after James Courtnage failed to hold on to the wet ball after superbly saving at the feet of Drew.
Aylesbury came out with renewed purpose in the second half but were unable to make the breakthrough and secure their first league draw of the season.
Darren Grieves saw his bullet header from a Phil Mason cross fly wide and Mason himself had a 25 yard shot sail into the arms of Bedford keeper James Heeps.
Bedford danger man Carl Drew saw a shot kept out by the Aylesbury crossbar on 75 minutes before Ollie Stanbridge headed agonisingly wide from a Roni Joe cross a minute later. Roni had two shots at goal saved by Heeps during the final 10 minutes of the game before Heeps pulled off a superb save in tipping a Kieran Gallagher shot over the bar in injury time.
Aylesbury then had two successive corners both of which sparked frantic goalmouth scrambles one of which saw a Roni Joe attempt at goal thwarted by a mixture of the Bedford keeper and his left hand post.
It was not to be Aylesbury's day and the majority of the 607 crowd (a season's best for the Ryman League Division One) went home happy. The travelling support were once again a credit to their club and were praised for their level of support by their hosts.
