The Ducks produced a performance a hundred times better than the previous Saturday but were still unable to prevent their hosts moving ever closer to Premier Division football next season.
In the absence of Joe and Courtnage, Scott Honeyball made a return from injury and Lovell was drafted in between the sticks.
The home side had the better of what early chances there were. Lovell pulled off a good save from Swaysland early on before Mark West had a shot dribble wide following a mis-kick on 22 minutes. Ex-Duck Mark Jones also had a shot sail wide as the Ducks defence held firm despite losing Scott Honeyball through injury.
Four minutes after the break Thame scored what was to be the winning goal. Good work on the right from Chris Fontaine saw the ball end up at the feet of Mick Swaysland who made no mistake from about 10 yards out. This was his first goal for Thame and his second against his former club this season having scored for Wealdstone in their October encounter with the Ducks.
Aylesbury battled bravely to get back into the game with their best chances falling to Phil Mason, who shot inches over the bar from 18 yards out and Kieran Gallagher, whose mazy run followed by a shot was easily saved by Ian Moores in the Thame goal.
As Thame celebrated a vital victory in the promotion race the large and vocal Ducks support was left hoping that their team can emulate the feats of their hosts in the near future.
