Aylesbury controlled and created chance after chance before finally taking the lead after thirteen minutes. Chris Bangura heading through to Clarke who shot home from a tight angle.
Within a minute though the home side were level. No one appeared able to clear as the ball dropped invitingly for former Duck Jeran Meah to fire home in his side's first foray forwards.
In previous games this would have signalled an Aylesbury collapse, but instead the Ducks grew in strength and regained the lead. Former Ducks defenders Lee Harvey and Gary Wotton completely watched helplessly as Ceri Marshman nipped in at the far post to score from a corner.
United were then a little unlucky as The Wood drew level five minutes later. A hopeful cross hit Tom Hill's heel and rolled agonisingly into the net. Again Aylesbury pressed forward and Phil Mason fired a free kick narrowly wide in first half injury time.
The second period saw Boreham Wood step up a gear although it was still difficult to determine which side were top of the league. The winner came in the 69th minute when Wayne Brown headed home unmarked following a quickly worked corner.
