Following the heroics of the previous Saturday the Ducks returned to league action with a narrow victory over newly relegated Carshalton Athletic - a victory which saw them move back into second place in the league table.
Carshalton had the best chance of the opening exchanges when striker Nick Hegley picked up a loose ball only to see his shot tipped away by Adam Wheeler in the Ducks goal.
On the stroke of half time it was Roni Joe who gave Aylesbury the lead in bizarre circumstances. Picking up the ball just inside the Carshalton half Roni played what was intended to be a long pass to Stuart Maynard. However, much to the surprise and delight of those in attendance the ball found it's way past Stuart Searle in the Carshalton goal, whose poor positioning left him stranded, and into the back of the net.
Two minutes after half time United missed the chance to double their lead when Enzo Silvestri's close range header was cleared off the line.
The visitors equalised shortly after when both Rob Paris and Adam Wheeler failed to deal with a long free kick and Paris' header looped over his keeper and into the goal, gifting Carshalton an underserved equaliser.
Paris was however to make amends with five minutes left though, when he met Stuart Maynard's corner with a glancing header to mark his full home debut with a goal at both ends and secure an important three points for his new side.
