Yet again Aylesbury started enthusiastically, and Kezie Ibe had the first chance of the game, as he brilliantly cut inside, and hit a left-footed shot just wide. Joe Baker failed to connect fully with a volley a few minutes later as Aylesbury's play was slick and attractive.
Disastor struck after 19 minutes though, as Enfield took the lead. Danny Gordon was unfortunate to be dispossessed inside his own half. Enfield's low cross was allowed to run across the box, and Warren Waugh was on-hand to stick it away. 1-0 Enfield
Aylesbury equalised before Terry Back had managed to sit down, however, as the Ducks won a free-kick just outside the area. Craig Maskell stepped up to curl the ball past the wall, with Enfield keeper Addai rooted to the spot. He made it look easy. 1-1
The Ducks were starting to over-run their opponents midfield by this point, and on 33 minutes Kezie Ibe put United ahead. A long-ball from Mark Burgess was taken down expertly, before being turned into a lazy left-footed shot which beat the keeper, and dropped in off the post. 2-1 Aylesbury
United were now dominating proceedings, and had more created more chances. Tony Houghton went on a run, and his shot was sent crashing wide. A corner two minutes later was powefully volleyed wide by Greg Williams. Enfield began to let their frustration show, as their tackles got later and later, with a lunge by Paul Armstrong only punished with a yellow card. Aylesbury players made their feelings quite known, and a scuffle followed.
Just before half-time, and Aylesbury had the game won as they went into a two goal lead. A superb counter-attack from one end of the pitch to the other resulted in Adam Campion being brought down by ex-Duck Dean Coppard. Enfield could have no complaints and Craig Maskell stepped up for his second of the match. 3-1 Aylesbury
Half-time: Aylesbury 3-1 Enfield
The second half saw Enfield come out and try to get something out of the game, as a Maynard free-kick was well stopped by Adam Wheeler. However, Enfield's hopes were well and truly scuppered after 56 minutes as another superb Ducks counter-attack led to a fourth goal. Greg Williams fed the ball through to the impressive Joe Baker, who used his great pace to beat the Enfield defence, before laying the ball to Kezie Ibe, who was left with an easy finish. 4-1 Aylesbury
United now had the luxury of being able to sit back. Enfield offerred little by way of a fightback, and the Ducks had further chances. Fiston Manuella missed a glorious opportunity after some more woeful defending by Enfield.
As the game came to the end, Craig Maskell was looking for his hat-trick, as he shot at goal. Had he not been looking for a third, there would have been no excuse for not squaring it for the unmarked Chris Bangura. But we'll let him off, as he's scored 4 goals in 5 games. An impressive start...
