Grays took the lead after approximately 20 minutes after slack defending allowed a cross to be whipped in, and Tony Lock made no mistake volleying home. The Ducks struggled to get to grips with the game, and the referee?s inconsistent decisions certainly didn?t help matters. They fell a further goal behind after Garry ?ugly? Abbot spectacularly volleyed home after some indecisiveness from the Ducks defence, which left Gary McCann with no chance. The rest of the half was played out at a tame tempo.
Ducks fans were hoping for the introduction of Gareth Risbridger, but unfortunately it came all too late, after Grays had taken a three goal lead through a mix up involving McCann, Honeyball and Dicker, which left the Lock oceans of time to pick his spot and slot home for his 2nd of the game.
The Ducks consolation came late in the game with the clock ticking down, after a mazy dribble by Kezie Ibe, resulted in a Grays defender crudely felling him. Maskell made no mistake from the spot, but unfortunately it was far too little, too late.
