Unfortunately United never really recovered from the key loss of Daniel Gordon early on, and missed Fiston Manuella?s physical presence in the middle of the park. Sutton equalised after a cross from the Ducks? left hand side was whipped in, which the defence failed to deal with, and Scott Corbett made no mistake from close range.
United found themselves two goals to one down shortly after, when a fortuitous Danny Bolt free kick beat Gary McCann from long range, with the keeper slow to react.
The second half saw the introduction of Maskell as the Ducks pushed for a perhaps deserved equaliser. Kezie Ibe missed a guilt-edged chance from a matter of yards after doing all the hard work, but shortly after, the same player popped up to slam the ball home from close range to send the travelling Ducks (and players) into seventh heaven.
The celebrations were short-lived as in typical Aylesbury fashion straight down the other end went Sutton to score with a low drive from 25 yards, which McCann must have been unhappy about.
The only positive that the management can be take from this game was that of the magnificent performance of big Sammy Okikiolu at centre back who gave a quite assured display.
