It was soon evident it was to be another busy ninety minutes for Lee Worgan as he pulled off a fine double stop a few minutes into the game.
Craig Maskell forced a save from Canvey keeper Ashley Harrison direct from a free kick shortly before half time with what proved to be Aylesbury's only notable chance of the first half. Harrison was called into action again shortly after half time when he palmed away an effort from Joe Baker.
Canvey's first goal came on 65 minutes when Lee Boylan headed home a Minton corner. Boylan scored his second of the game and effectively secured victory for his side some two minutes later when, left in space, he lobbed Worgan just outside the box.
The Ducks pulled a goal back with fifteen minutes remaining when Kezie Ibe was hauled down in the area. The referee gave the penalty but surprisingly kept his red card in his pocket, although Craig Maskell did convert the spot-kick to record his 18th of the season.
United tried in vain to force an equaliser but two breathtaking saves from Worgan as the game drew to a close prevented Canvey from winning by a greater margin.
