The Ducks started on the attack, as they did on Saturday. Chris Bangura had the first chance, after working some space for a right footed shot which went just wide. Bangura was then involved again, as he laid the ball back to the arriving Campion, who's first time effort was lifted wide.
The home side had their first Premier Division chance at Chesnut Avenue after 16 minutes, as the dangerous Chris Moore hit a left-footed shot which required a decent save from Adam Wheeler. Moore was at it again soon after, as he hit a curling shot right across the face of the goal, which shaved the far post. An incoming player just failed to make contact with the ball.
The game had visibly turned, as Northwood had started playing, and all the attacking play seemed to be in the Ducks box. A shot was blocked by an Aylesbury defender, before the follow-up was hit wide. Then a free-kick was rolled to ex-Duck Kieran Knight, who blasted his effort well wide.
Wayne Carter hit another effort well wide of the mark. Northwood then survived a strong penalty appeal, after the ball hit a defenders knee and bounced into his hand. Although, to be fair, there were more protests from the crowd of travelling Ducks than Aylesbury players.
Aylesbury seemed spurred on once again, and Rory Hunter hit a curling effort straight into the keeper's arms. Rory then had another effort, this time with his left foot, which was always going over. Roni Joe then made his first run of the evening, and almost finished it off with a goal. Unfortunately he could only manage a left-footed shot over the bar.
Half-time: Northwood 0-0 Aylesbury
The second half started excellently for the Ducks. A ball from the left was well flicked on by Danny Grieves at the near post to present Bangura with an excellent chance. In true Bangura style, he mis-kicked and could only flick the ball into the keeper's arms from 3-yards out.
However, Aylesbury took the lead within 5 minutes of the restart. A superb run down the left flank by Alvin Bubb saw him deliver a perfect cross which was headed goalwards by Bangura. Rob Bullivant made an excellent save, but Dean Canoville was on hand to tuck home the rebound. 1-0 Aylesbury
It could have been two within a minute, as Bangura looking as confident as ever, superbly took down a flighted ball over his shoulder, turned and hit a right-footed shot towards the top corner. The effort required a top class save from Bullivant to keep the ball out.
Danny Grieves had a long-shot, before a succession of substitutions halted the continuity of the match, including Warren Williams replacing Chris Bangura up front.
Out of nothing Northwood found an equaliser. As the Ducks backline failed to clear the ball, Chris Moore found himself one-on-one with Adam Wheeler, and rounded the keeper well before side-footing the ball into the net. 1-1
The equliser completely changed the match, and Northwood were in the driving seat again. Aylesbury seemed to lose some of their sharpness up front after the loss of Bangura, and were struggling.
Carter hit a thunderous half-volley wide, which served to excite the crowd more than threaten the goal. At the other end a good counter-attack saw Canoville play the ball through to Warren Williams, who rounded the keeper, but couldn't beat the impossible angle to goal which had developed.
Dave Sargent then missed perhaps the easiest chance Northwood will have all season. A low-cross evaded everyone from both sides, and went all the way across to the unmarked Sargent who managed to fire high and wide from 5-yards out. A let off indeed for the Ducks.
As the game came to an end, Carter hit another effort over, and Canoville headed over from a Rory Hunter cross. In the end Aylesbury will be happy to have taken a point from this match, as Northwood could well have sneaked a result. Four points from the opening two games is certainly a good start.
