Anyway, Aylesbury were undisputably on top for a good twenty five minutes of a fairly slow game, although it was Hayes who tested the air first. Scott Forrester hitting a shot straight at the ever impressive Kevin Davies.
Roni Joe then did his best to win a penalty, but his weak claims fell on deaf ears. Ears belonging to referee Mr Hayes, no less! Roni then hit the target, although it was with a long range effort which was easily held by the keeper.
A free-kick on the right-flank brought about Aylesbury's best chance. Leon Gordon swung the ball in, and Chris Boothe rose highest to head the ball towards the top corner. Only a fantastic save from Jake Cole prevented the goal.
Ryan Wiffin saw a shot parried, after some persistance in chasing a defender down paid off. Here endeth the Aylesbury pressure.
Kevin Warner shot high and wide after having a free-kick laid to him, but eight minutes later Hayes drew first blood. Some poor defending in the Ducks area saw the ball played in twice, and only half cleared, before it was stabbed goalwards from the edge of the are by Jamie Richards, and back-heeled in by Scott Forrester. The ball saomehow snuck in despite Leon Gordon's positioning on the line. 1-0 Hayes
Hayes doubled their scoreline before half-time to make a comeback seemingly impossible for the visitors. A Peter Holsgrove speculative shot from just outside the area was cruelly deflected past Davies and into the net. 2-0 Hayes
Half-time: Hayes 2-0 Aylesbury
For the second succesive game, Chris Boothe made a change at half time, this time replacing Leon Gordon with Adam Campion.
The Ducks were somewhat slow out of the blocks for the second half, and the game was wrapped up with a third Hayes goal. Forrester broke forward down the left, and finished well. 3-0 Hayes
Aylesbury nearly hit back through Greg Williams within a minute. A Joe cross found its way to the all alone midfielder, but Yeboah was quick to get across and block the shot.
Any potential recovery was soon killed off, as Roni Joe was dismissed thirteen minutes into the half, for retaliation.
However, Hayes were now sitting back, happy with their three goal scoreline. This allowed Aylesbury to press forward, but they never looked convinving in the final third. Daniel Mead had a shot wide, after breaking forward from left-back.
The last five minutes saw more chances from both teams than at any other time in the match. Alvin Bubb had a shot out of nothing, which required a good save from Cole. Mead then had another effort, but it went straight to Cole.
At the other end, Kevin Davies was once more making some good saves. After Stuart Goodall hit the side netting, John Hastings saw a shot excellently saved after finding himself clean through on goal.
So the game ended 0-3 to Hayes. To be fair Aylesbury were on top for twenty minutes, but once again, rarely looked like scoring. Hopefully we are saving ourselves for Saturday.
