After a break of seemingly forever, Aylesbury were back in action with this trip to fellow strugglers Harrow Borough. An important match, this would be an indication of how the team have improved since new manager Kevin Wilson has been at the helm.

The team saw three changes from that which drew with Hendon - new signing Louis Reed made his debut at right-back, Alvin Bubb returned from injury to replace Alex Stanley, and Danny Gray played his first game since the season's opener, partnering Chris Bangura up front.

Despite a promising start by the away side, it was Harrow who nearly forced an opener at the start. Fabio Valenti found himself free of the defence, as they claimed offside, but his weak effort was no problem for Kevin Davies in the Aylesbury goal.

Greg Williams hit a wild volley, which went out for a throw-in rather than testing Keira Karamoko! Adam Campion then hit a speculator from range, which was always rising over the bar. A slick passing move from the Ducks released Bangura, but his right footed shot was held by Karamoko.

Harrow came close again, as Aylesbury's defending was lacking, allowing David Ocquaye to sneak in a shot, which bounced off the inside of the post and rolled across the face of the goal.

The match was wide open, as both sides had a number of chances. A Rory Hunter effort was spilled by Karamoko, although the following-up player was ruled offside. Harrow had another good chance, as Danny Moore found himself all alone, but could only place his shot wide of the post.

A Dean Coppard mistake allowed the lively Valenti in to shoot, but Kevin Davies managed to stop the ball with his legs. Aylesbury countered well, as a good break involving Adam Campion released Bangura, but his shot was straight at Karamoko.

At half-time Aylesbury would be happy to go in level. If Harrow's finishing had been better, it could well have been game over for the Ducks.

The second half began in perfect fashion for Aylesbury, as they were ahead within three minutes. Bangura stole in on some indecision from Karamoko and the Harrow defence, and the ball richocheted to Greg Williams who had the simple task of rolling the ball into the empty net. 1-0 Aylesbury

Harrow looked rather more short on ideas in the second half, although Ocquaye came close with an effort that flashed across the face of the goal. A double substitution by Eddie Stein didn't help their fortunes. Instead, it helped Aylesbury find another gear.

Campion was coming into the game more and more, and a typical run and cross was missed by Danny Gray, but hit with venom by the left-foot of Alvin Bubb. Sadly, the volley was way off target. Another run from Campion this time produced a shot of his own making, but it was just over the bar.

Harrow still looked threatening, and Aylesbury's defence still looked shaky. Kevin McKenna found his way in behind the said defence, but lobbed the ball well over the bar. A shot from Danny Moore required a smart stop from Davies shortly after.

Then came a heartening moment in the match, as Gareth Risbridger came on for his first appearance in eight months. Risbridger looked assured during his involvement, showing some nice touches and getting stuck in well, clearly keen to be playing again.

The final quarter of the match was a frenzied affair, as Harrow Borough lumped the ball forward in search of an equaliser. This was real backs to the wall stuff for Aylesbury, and although stretched, they survived the pressure well.

However, the game was wrapped up deep into stoppage time. Chris Bangura seized upon more uncertainty from Karamoko, and the ball rebounded off his backside and rolled into the net. 2-0 Aylesbury

Although the performance wasn't all that great, today's game was all about getting the right result. Three points were a must today, and the win sees us begin our climb up the table.
