The Ducks came into this match at Kettering on the back of their best performance of the season, after beating Grays 1-0 away in midweek. Kevin Wilson made two changes to the team - Matt Glynn returned in place of Danny Gray, and new signing Lewis Crake made his debut at centre-back.

The Ducks put their hosts under some early pressure with a series of three corners in a row. Rory Hunter then skied a shot at goal when well placed from wide.

Kettering then came into the game, and after Gary Butterworth shot inches over the bar, Kevin Davies was forced to make a good stop from a header.

The home side then forced an opening goal, after 10-minutes played. After a goalmouth scramble the ball was forced over the line by Paul Fewings for a scrappy effort. Richard Graham had performed wonders on the left-flank to beat Jamie Moss with a lovely bit of skill in the build-up. 1-0 Kettering

In fact, a good proportion of Kettering's attacking play was coming down the left, with Graham looking particularly dangerous. It was a relief for the Ducks when he was substituted after 19 minutes.

Aylesbury began carving out their own chances, with that man Lynch looking sharp once more. The striker turned sharply in the area, but his shot was easily held by Paul Pettinger.

The Ducks then got their equaliser. The ball dropped to Paul Covington from a corner, and he joyfully rammed home his first goal from Aylesbury. 1-1

It was the Ducks who had the last say of the half too. A free-kick was first driven against the wall by Tom Ramasut, and then the rebound was also deflected, from Chris Jackson.

Aylesbury were much the happier to hear the half-time whistle. Having gone behind they fought back well to equalise, but came under more pressure from Kettering just before the end of the half.

The second half started in bright fashion. Lynch saw a shot well blocked, before Kettering re-took the lead. For once the offside trap of the Ducks was beaten, and Paul Fewings took advantage to run through and score his second of the game. 2-1 Kettering

This time though, Aylesbury hit back almost immediately. Following an attack the ball was half cleared by the Kettering defence, but headed back in by an Aylesbury player, where it fell to Darren Lynch. The striker had only the keeper to beat, and kept his cool superbly. 2-2

Kevin Davies pulled off a magnificent save, readjusting himself well to keep out a deflected free-kick, minutes after Lynch's goal. From this point on though, the Ducks raised themselves to a new level.

The best move of the game, ten minutes before the end, saw the home side torn apart. The ball was moved across the pitch to Tom Ramasut, who sped forward and crossed for Josh Sozzo, who's glancing header agonisingly skimmed the top of the bar.

Three minutes later Craig McIlwain nearly sent the ball through his own net, as he stabbed the ball behind, only missing by a half yard.

In the last five minutes the Aylesbury efforts came thick and fast. Tom Ramasut shot over the bar after a jinking run. A Sozzo left-footed shot was easily held by Pettinger, and a Greg Williams effort after a mazy run into the box was palmed away.

The Leader then had a volley blocked from a corner, and it became clear it just wasn't to be Aylesbury's day, as the minutes ticked away.

In the end a point at Kettering is a good result for any side, but it's disappointing with the chances and pressure we had during the final quarter of the match, that we couldn't have snatched a winner. What's even more frustrating is that looking at the league table, we are the 2nd worst team in the Ryman Premier Division!
