After a couple of early half-chances for both sides - involving Greg Williams for Aylesbury and Kevin Wills for Tiverton, the Ducks got off to a flyer with an early goal. Superb play saw Dean Cracknell and Daniel Mead link-up down the left, with Cracknell going on and delivering a tempting cross for Leon Gutzmore to head past Mark Ovendale in the Tiverton goal. 1-0 Aylesbury
Crackers was again in the midst of the action soon after, this time playing in Neil Champelovier, who's goalbound effort was deflected over. Ex-Wycombe full-back Chris Vinnicombe then fired a shot wide at the other end.
Champelovier went close again, after a Paul Edgeworth shot fell to him, just taking too long before firing in his shot, which was a weak effort in the end. Mudge fired wide, as the game went from end to end.
Tiverton came closest to equalising with ten-minutes of the first half remaining. A cleverly worked free-kick routine released Mudge, who hit a powerful effort which was superbly tipped onto the bar by Jack Rashid.
Further chances for Tiverton went begging, as Mudge had a shot easily held and Vinnicombe lashed a volley over the bar. Edgeworth then hit Aylesbury's custom comedy miss, just before half-time, having been faced with an open goal following his release by a superb Champelovier ball.
Half-time: Aylesbury 1-0 Tiverton
The second half started just as well as the first for United. Gutzmore broke down the right, and when trying to play Gutzmore in saw the ball nearly turned into his own net by a defender. The resulting corner was swung in deep by Paul Lamb, and headed home, over the stranded Ovendale by Matt Hayward. The veteran defender scoring on his 300th appearance for the club. 2-0 Aylesbury
After Edgeworth hit a scuffed effort from distance, Aylesbury survived a manic goalmouth scramble, during which the ball was cleared off the line twice, before the final effort was shot over. Straight away Aylesbury were on the attack, Ovendale making a good double save from Champelovier and Edgeworth efforts.
Cracknell, quieter in the second half, shot over the bar following a speedily taken free-kick. Tiverton then saw their best chance of the half deflected wide - a dangerous ball curled in by Mudge, which was headed towards goal by an attacker.
With eight minutes remaining Aylesbury wrapped up the match in style. Kai Ridley released Gutzmore down the right-wing, and he held the ball up patiently, before crossing for the completely unmarked Edgeworth, who calmly netted high into the goal. 3-0 Aylesbury
After Tiverton substitute Jamie Densham stole in to steer a shot wide, and Edgeworth shot over again, the away side netted a consolation strike. A free-kick was nodded home by defender Paul Milsom in the 88th minute, too late to prevent anything other than a clean sheet for Aylesbury.
The final action of an eventful match saw Gutzmore skillfully take the ball past his man and break away, but he could only find the side netting with his shot.
So another win, and who'd have thought it - 5 wins from the first seven games. The result also means Aylesbury have now won as many League matches as the entire 2003/04 season.
