Paul Curtis named the same starting line-up for the third successive match, and Danny Gray returned from Haywood to secure a place on a youthful looking substitutes bench.
Aylesbury got off to an awful start which was always going to make winning difficult, as they conceded a goal after just 77 seconds. A ball played across goal wasn't cleared, and Louie Farrington arrived at the back post to send the ball home. 1-0 Histon
Histon could easily have made it two almost immediately, Jamie Barker with time and space to shoot having come forward down the left, but his shot was pulled wide.
As the Ducks struggled to come to terms with the early goal, they did manage a rare effort on goal after fifteen minutes. The ball found it's way to Paul Edgeworth, and his instinctive half-volley from distance went just wide.
Although it was more positive from Aylesbury, it still didn't spark the team into action, as Histon continueally posed all the questions. Barker, from an almost identical position to his last effort, again shot wide of the far post, before the home side doubled their lead.
Again a ball was played all the way across, without being cleared by a defender, and an offside Neil Kennedy was unattended to easily scored. 2-0 Histon
Aylesbury entered their best period of the game after going 2-0 down, and had two quick chances. Leon Gutzmore latched onto a half-clearance, and his deflected shot required Paul Barber to make his only save of the game - a plunging tip wide.
Daniel Mead broke forward soon after, and his cross was flicked on for Greg Williams to head towards goal, but the effort lacked power and was cleared by the strong Histon defence.
There was chance for another Histon goal-attempt before half-time, as Ian Cambridge shot wide when well placed.
Half-time: Histon 2-0 Aylesbury
The second half was a dismal affair from an Aylesbury point of view, as the game quickly became an exhibition of Histon chances missed. The home side signalled their intent after just three first half minutes, Cambridge's looping header was easily held by Jack Rashid, before Cambridge crossed the ball having won it from Williams, and Kennedy fired wide.
Another three minutes on and Rashid made a great one-on-one save, after Kennedy found himself in behind the defence. Barker was played in for another effort on goal, from a quick free-kick with Aylesbury seemingly asleep, but he again saw his shot go wide, and Kennedy missed another good chance having got in behind the Ducks defence.
As the game reached, and passed, the midway point of the second half there was evidently going to be no comeback from United, as Histon continued to rain in the shots. Barker again missed the target, shooting over under absolutely no pressure, and Robbie Nightingale had a shot saved by Rashid.
Aylesbury using up their three substitutes was the only action the supporters saw in a woeful second half display, and the game really couldn't end quick enough. One point of note was Ian Brumwell coming on to make his League debut.
In truth this match could have ended four or five-nil to Histon, with some better finishing from the home side. A look at the League table shows we are still in fourth place, with Histon now one place below us, but things must improve as we travel to Team Bath on Saturday - a team without a point at home this season.
