Daniel Mead shrugged off his injury sustained at Chesham to maintain his 100% record this season, whilst strikers Paul Fewings and Chris Dillon were both fit to start for Bedford to try and end their 3 game barren streak.
The early warning signs were there from Aylesbury and Paul Edgeworth called James Robinson into immediate action as he broke down the right and went for goal, but there was no beating the Bedford stopper at his near-post.
Chris Dillon's strike from distance had Jack Rashid diving to save it, but it wasn't truely threatening. Edgeworth's improvisation nearly opened the scoring, as he nonchalantly flicked a volley goalwards with the outside of his boot, but the ball dropped just past the far-post.
Ashley Blake's miscontrol presented a shooting chance for Daniel French on 15 minutes, but he lashed his effort well over the bar.
Two minutes later Aylesbury had a deserved lead. Jamie Kearn's free-kick hit the defensive wall, but Paul Lamb played the ball back in, and as Robinson punched it down Kearns headed it back towards goal, and Drew Roberts popped up to power a header into the empty net. 1-0 Aylesbury
The home sides' early exertions seemed to leave them breathless, and after Edgeworth tried an ambitious 20-yarder with his left-foot, Bedford began to enjoy some possession for the first time.
Dillon hooked an effort over the bar when he had no right to get a shot in at goal, and Rene Howe drilled the ball wide of the post after a free-kick floated all the way across the box to him.
Fewings spurned Bedford's best chance five minutes before the interval. A corner-kick found the ex-Kettering striker unmarked, but he headed wide of the target when he should have done much better.
Aylesbury battled back in the closing stages of the first half. Gavin Jaggard picked out Roberts on the left flank, and his pinpoint cross was headed down by Edgeworth but saved well by Robinson.
Kearns then had a shot from distance go sailing over the bar, and Greg Williams made a burst forward down the right-flank but fired his shot wide across goal.
Half-time: Aylesbury 1-0 Bedford
The first action of the second half saw Bedford's Paul Fewings sustain an injury and be replaced by Jason James.
Roberts continued to threaten the Bedford backline, and set-up Edgeworth for what should have been another goal after nutmegging Ashley Blake on the touchline and hanging the ball up. Unfortunately Edgeworth's header went over the bar, when it looked easier to score.
French's free-kick was turned goalwards by Jaggard, but Robinson was in the right place to keep the ball out, and Roberts arrowed a long-range free-kick which was comfortably taken by the keeper as Aylesbury kept up the pressure.
Paul Lamb went close with a toe-poked effort after Jaggard used his strength to shield the ball and lay the ball back to him.
Aylesbury failed to convert another excellent goalscoring chance soon after. French counter-attacked with pace, before playing in Roberts who with a clean-run at goal looked odds on to score. Unfortunately he decided to try and go around Robinson who was able to dive at the striker's feet and collect the ball.
Bedford's equaliser had a touch of good fortune to it, but there was always a feeling that the Ducks would rue their missed chances and so it proved. Stuart Wardley lined up a free-kick 20-yards out, and his effort took a big deflection off the wall and wrong-footed Jack Rashid to go in. 1-1
The goal visibly lifted the Eagles and they nearly scored again through Rene Howe, who broke in from the right, lifted the ball over Rashid but found only the side-netting.
The game grew stretched in the final stages and was an end to end affair. Jaggard ran forward and tried a shot, but it was easily held by Robinson. At the other end substitute Dean McIlroy went excruciatingly close to scoring, seeing his low shot kept out by the legs of Rashid.
Lamb struck a shot wide of the target for Aylesbury, and Dillon fired wide after a strong run with the ball, as the chances continued to fall for both sides.
Aylesbury's final chance came courtesy of yet more good play by Drew Roberts, as he broke down the left and delivered a perfect cross for the arriving Neil Lazarus, whose powerful header was blocked by Craig Rydeheard.
And the very final event of an eventful game saw Rydeheard himself power a shot well over the bar, before Mr Toyer brought proceedings to a close.
