Neil Trebble was without both first choice full backs, so in came youngsters Kyle Kilmartin on the right and Justin Gordon on the left. There was also a full debut for Nick Jackson on the left wing, and Jack Rashid returned in goal.
3-0 may appear a comfortable scoreline for the home side, but it was far from an easy afternoon for Yate, as United were the better team for the opening half hour and had they taken the chances they created could have been ahead themselves.
Mark Bridge had a fantastic chance in the opening five minutes. Jackson played the ball inside to Powles, who slotted through for Mark Bridge but with the whole goal to aim at he fired wide.
The next chance also involved Jackson, his free-kick saw Leon Gutzmore challenge goalkeeper Tony Court for the ball, and as it dropped to Matt Hayward his goalbound shot hit one of his own players.
Bridge had another chance five minutes later, Dean Powles' shot dropped invitingly to him in the area, but his effort on the turn rose narrowly over the crossbar.
Yate asked questions of the United defence on several occasions; Jason Wood might have done better with a shot from the edge of the area which he pulled wide. Similarly his midfield colleague Paul Chenoweth hit such an effort moments later.
Kieron Deane, playing on the right-wing, then flashed a shot over the bar having cut in from his wide position.
Against the run of play the home side took the lead. A fierce shot came in from the left, which was well saved by Rashid, but the ball dropped for striker Darren Edwards to rifle home. 1-0 Yate
Yate then scored a second goal in first half stoppage time, to put themselves two up in what had been an even match. A ball played through caught Aylesbury's defence motionless, and Edwards had all the time in the world to lift the ball over Rashid. 2-0 Yate
Half-time: Yate Town 2-0 Aylesbury United
Aylesbury worked hard after the interval to try and find a way back into the game, but more often than not found a well drilled Yate defence blocking their path. Nick Jackson had a shot wide, and Powles saw an effort held as the Ducks kept plugging away.
At the other end the home side looked to increase their lead, and Wood went close with a well executed free-kick which shaved the upright.
United's best spell of the second half started with Bridge playing a neat one-two with Kieron Deane, but his shot was superbly blocked by Yate's captain Lee Jefferies who flung himself at the ball.
Bridge wasn't having the best of luck in front of goal, this time he watched his shot deflected after Justin Gordon's ball was nodded down by Gutzmore.
Another free-kick from Wood this time went over the bar, before Aylesbury made an attacking substitution by bringing Damon Ming on for Kyle Kilmartin.
Unfortunately there was to be little more joy in the game for the Ducks. Dean Powles cleared a goalbound header from a corner off the line, before Jack Rashid superbly saved the follow-up shot.
It was sadly to be Rashid's last action of the game, as he suffered another recurrence of his hamstring injury and was replaced by Reece Kirk.
Yate then stepped up to score their third. The ball ran through to substitute Thompson and he was able to calmly finish off the post. 3-0 Yate
There was to be no more penalty area action, and a disappointing day was brought to an end by Mr. Flynn. The 3-0 scoreline generally flattered the home side, but quite simply Yate had taken the chances on offer whereas Aylesbury yet again couldn't.
