New signing Nick Leach featured at centre-back making his 'debut' (although he played for the club once as a substitute in 2000/01) and looked a good acquisition, whilst Nathan Liburd switched to right-back in a new look defensive line-up.
Aylesbury made the perfect start when, following a foul on Enzo Silvestri on the edge of the box, Daniel Mead stepped up to curl in his first goal of the season after four minutes. 1-0 Aylesbury
The home side were by far the better of the teams in the opening stages, and the lively Richard Pringle drew a smart save from Lee Evans on 13 minutes when he turned quickly in the area and shot early.
A minute later Kevin Mealor made a good break down the left, but his driven cross-cum-shot flashed across the goal with Leon Gutzmore unable to get a touch.
Chasetown were struggling, but they had a rare effort when Lee Parsons fired in a dipping volley, which dropped the wrong side of the post.
Pringle went close again when he picked up the ball 25-yards out and managed to turn and head for goal, but he hit his shot just wide of the right upright.
The closest the Ducks came to a second goal was when Silvestri had a header cleared off the line after Evans did his best superman impression when punching away a Liam Smyth corner kick.
Chasetown had a good chance from a free-kick just outside the area, but having spent plenty of time organising proceedings, Parsons wasted the chance by more lifting the ball into Vincent's arms than trying a shot.
Craig Holland tried a shot from range which went wide at the far post, in what was probably Chasetown's best attempt of the first half, in the final ten minutes.
Half-time: Aylesbury 1-0 Chasetown
Aylesbury started the second half strongly too, Gutzmore had a shot blocked after Silvestri had played him in, but they couldn't maintain the pressure and the game deteriorated into a scrappy affair.
Chasetown were seeing more of the ball, but were unable to create many genuine chances with the Ducks defence generally solid in open play. The best they could manage was a wild effort from Duncan Horler which was well off target.
Yet from set pieces Aylesbury struggled, as has been a common theme of late. A number of corners had caused problems in the first half, and another on the hour mark brought about the equaliser.
Despite a back four of 6'+ defenders, the ball in wasn't dealt with and came all the way across for Kevin Thompson to fire home from five yards out. 1-1
After the goal the Ducks might have crumbled, but on this occasion they showed their resilience and managed to hit back to re-establish the lead three minutes later.
Richard Pringle challenged goalkeeper Evans to a flighted left-wing free-kick, heading the ball towards Gutzmore who in an aerial challenge with defender Chris Slater forced the latter to head the ball into his own net. 2-1 Aylesbury
Chasetown went close with another corner kick, which caused pandemonium in the Ducks area before eventually being cleared. Substitute Mark Branch then struck a good effort which curled away from goal.
Substitute Luke Melisi injected some late life into the home team, and his run into the box was followed with a shot which deflected through to Evans. The ball was briefly loose but Silvestri couldn't quite reach the rebound in time.
Aylesbury went close in the remaining five minutes when Gutzmore ran onto a ball over the top, showed great strength to hold off his man, but could only shoot into the sidenetting from an impossible angle.
The match ended soon afterwards, with neither team creating further chances, and United secured an important and much needed win.
