Aylesbury were missing Kevin Mealor to illness, and Enzo Silvestri due to work commitments, but central defenders Danny Brown and Nick Leach returned after missing the FA Trophy match, and there was a place on the bench for new signing Carl Kavanagh.
United were on top early in the match, Liam Smyth drawing a save from Cleeve's goalkeeper from 20-yards, Leon Gutzmore collecting the rebound but just unable to steer the ball home from an angle.
Minutes later Richard Pringle went close with a header from a right-flank free-kick.
As the heavens opened and conditions deteriorated, the game became a scrappy affair with the ball being given away too often by both sides. The home team didn't pose the Ducks much threat though, usually relying on the long ball to their beanpole centre-forward - a tactic which was easily snuffed out by Brown and Leach.
On the half hour mark Pringle went close again, flicking a long-throw across goal and narrowly wide of the far post. The big striker went close again when he connected with a Smyth free-kick, but his header was held.
The breakthrough finally came after 40 minutes, Pringle involved again when he was fouled in the area at a free-kick. Leon Gutzmore stepped up to calmly roll home the spot-kick and give his side a deserved lead. 1-0 Aylesbury
Things got much worse for Bishops Cleeve when their number 6 was sent off three minutes before half time for a reckless challenge, not aided by the wet conditions, on Nathan Liburd.
Half-time: Bishops Cleeve 0-1 Aylesbury
To their credit, Cleeve attempted to take the game to Aylesbury after the interval, Nick Leach nearly sent the ball into his own net when he sliced wide from a corner kick, and the home side's number 9 drove a low effort which had to be carefully watched by Vincent on the greasy surface.
Danny Brown should have done better at the other end when he got on the end of Smyth's corner kick, but headed over.
Aylesbury got the second goal to kill off the game after 68 minutes. Matt Butler showed great determination to win back the ball before releasing Luke Melisi, who calmly rounded the keeper and slotted into the empty net, his second goal in as many games. 2-0 Aylesbury
Three minutes later it was three for United, Richard Pringle intercepted a woeful pass from the home side, ran clean through and cheekily dinked the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. 3-0 Aylesbury
Nando Perna replaced the tiring Justin Gordon, who had been impressive on the left-wing with fifteen minutes remaining, before a right-wing cross was headed over by the home side.
Further substitutions came from Aylesbury, Kavanagh coming on to make his debut in place of Danny Brown - who is expected to return to Basingstoke having completed his 1 month loan - and Kyle Kilmartin replacing Matt Butler in midfield.
Three minutes before time Gutzmore was pulled back when running clean through, United seemingly having a case for another dismissal, but it mattered little when Perna stepped up and scored with a stunning free-kick. 4-0 Aylesbury
Right on the stroke of time Cleeve's number 9 theatrically went down in the area, before ridiculously verbally abusing the referee - for which he was sent off and his side reduced to nine men.
Aylesbury could have had a fifth through new man Kavanagh after the goalkeeper flapped at a free-kick, but the defenders effort was blocked on the line.
At times this match was too easy for the Ducks, Cleeve weren't helped by the sending off but to say it changed the course of the game would have been unfair with Aylesbury well on top by that point. On good form and with league strugglers Stourport Swifts the visitors on Saturday, hopefully the momentum can be continued.
