Whilst off the pitch Aylesbury were celebrating a move to their new temporary home of Chesham United's The Meadow stadium, on the pitch was something of an anti-climax as the Ducks were unable to find a way past a stubborn Bedworth United defence and record their fifth win in a row.

In the opening twenty minutes particularly the home side dominated proceedings, but in front of goal they lacked the composure to put Bedworth to the sword and had to settle for a goal-less draw, although this was still a fourth consecutive clean sheet.

The best chance of the game fell to Enzo Silvestri inside the first five minutes. Kevin Mealor burst onto a long high ball and delivered a low cross which Silvestri arrived on the end of, but somehow fired wide from close range.

Mealor was involved again three minutes later when he slipped the ball inside for striker partner Luke Melisi whose left-footed effort went over.

Melisi then went on a strong run having been played in by Smyth, but he saw his final effort saved by Craig Johnson. Smyth's rising drive soon after flew over the crossbar.

On fifteen minutes Mealor forced Johnson into a good save on his near post with a fierce drive, but the Bedworth stopper was up to the task and parried away.

At this stage it seemed only a matter of time before Aylesbury broke the deadlock, but the visitors had other ideas. Even the loss of experienced centre back Pete Barry was no hinderence, his replacement young James Mace going on to have a fine debut, constantly rebuffing Aylesbury's attacks.

After a blazing start, Aylesbury lost some of their momentum and Bedworth began to come into the game for the first time. A long driven ball from Peter Spacey presented an opportunity for Adam Kinder who beat Julian Old but could only produce a tame effort which trickled through to Tom Vincent.

Kinder was at it again five minutes later when he collected the ball but flashed a shot over from the edge of the area.

Paul Spacey was Bedworth's biggest threat, showing good skill on the ball which the Ducks' just couldn't deal with. His dipping free-kick on 35 minutes was narrowly over the bar, before he caused havoc moments later by cutting in from the left and crashing a high effort at goal which Vincent could only palm away.

Five minutes before the interval and normal service was resumed as Melisi forced Mace into a square ball across his own area. His intended recipient slipped at the crucial moment allowing Smyth the chance to go for goal, but his shot was deflected wide.

Mealor forced Johnson into another save with a similar driven near-post effort to his last attempt and from the following corner kick Mealor and Silvestri combined to fire over after the ball ran loose.

Half-time: Aylesbury 0-0 Bedworth

Aylesbury continued to press for an opener after the interval, but their off-day in front of goal continued, whilst Bedworth were happy to sit back and try to hit the Ducks on the counter-attack.

Mealor tried a long-shot after three minutes which went narrowly over the bar. Ten minutes later he fired just wide with a half-volley after a ball in from Old was flicked into his path by Ben Stevens.

Once again Kevin Mealor was at the heart of his side's next chance, playing a cleve reverse ball into the path of Silvestri who was just beaten to the ball by the goalkeeper.

Mealor went for goal himself on 65 minutes when he cut inside from the right and curled the ball agonisingly over the bar.

Aylesbury introduced fit-again striker Leon Gutzmore for his first ever Aylesbury substitute appearance, but neither he or fellow replacement striker Shaun Carr could inspire the Ducks in front of goal.

Kinder had another good chance, Beworth's first of the second half, when he was picked out with a free-kick from Paul Spacey but again his finish was weak and straight at Vincent.

Silvestri had the next effort after he was picked out in the area with a clipped pass over the defence, but he slashed at his shot and skewed wide into the side-netting.

As the drew to a disappointing close things looked destined to remain goal-less as Aylesbury ran out of ideas. Mead went close with a trademark free-kick which curled just over the bar.

At the other end substitute David Sheward lashed a shot wide when well placed, and Shaun Carr rounded off the action by seeing a shot easily held.

In the end both sides had to make do with a point, although Bedworth will be far happier with the result than the Ducks who suffered from a rare off-day in front of goal.
