Aside from Nathan Liburd replacing Carl Kavanagh at centre back, this was the same team which had done well to draw at playoff chasing Stourbridge the previous week, yet it seemed virtually unrecognisable in terms of the display.
The match started slowly with little action in the opening fifteen minutes. A swift counter-attack produced Aylesbury's first chance when Liam Smyth played in Luke Melisi who was forced to shoot from wide due to a lack of support, and his shot was gathered in at the second attempt by Ryan Price.
A minute later Melisi worked an opening for himself by dribbling into the area, beating his defender, but the final shot didn't match the build-up, Price easily gathering the low effort.
From a quickly taken free kick Aylesbury went close again, a ball rolled into the path of Richard Pringle allowed him to shoot, but only find the side netting.
Having not posed a threat for 25 minutes, Rushall nearly took the lead out of nothing. The ball fell to Dean Perrow who tried the spectacular, a 20-yard lobbed half-volley over the stranded Vincent which whistled just past the upright.
Ten minutes later and Mead and Vincent got in a mix up when the full back tried to chest back to his goalkeeper, Lee Gough intercepting but finding himself forced wide by Vincent. Matt Butler arrived to slide the ball to safety and bail his defenders out.
Enzo Silvestri and Tyrone Barnett became the first names in referee Mr Martin's notebook, after a poor challenge by the Aylesbury skipper which Barnett reacted badly to.
But Aylesbury seemed in a mood to shoot themselves in the foot, and they did in disastrous fashion a minute before the break. A long ball should have been dealt with by Liburd, but he first let the ball bounce and then having committed to a sliding challenge failed to contact the ball. Perrow took full advantage by running on, rounding Vincent and rolling the ball home. 1-0 Rushall
Half-time: Aylesbury 0-1 Rushall
After the break United found themselves up against a 5-man defence employed by Rushall. The home side certainly took the game to their opponents though, and the ball rarely left the Pics' half, but time and time again Aylesbury were unable to find a way though.
Mead had the first sighter, a driven effort from range which was comfortably fielded by Price. Sadly it took another fifteen minutes before the next attempt at goal, Melisi firing wide from the edge of the area as.
Pringle then tried to get in on the act, and came as close as he did all game with a curling left footed effort which was travelling towards the top corner but Price was always behind it.
Jon Franklin threw caution to the wind by replacing the shaky Liburd with Kevin Mealor who went straight into a front three.
The visitors Tyrone Barnett was then given his marching orders, shown a second yellow card for comically attempting to punch the ball past his marker. After his first yellow for dissent, his manager can't have been too pleased.
The substitution by Aylesbury paid dividends as it was Mealor who eventually claimed the overdue equaliser. A deep free kick was headed goalwards by Pringle, and spilled by Price, Mealor managing to scramble the ball over the line. 1-1
Even after the goal only the home side looked capable of scoring, and they kept the pressure on with a succession of corners, Mealor going close from a Smyth delivery as near as Aylesbury came.
With the seconds ticking away Pringle tried his luck from a wide left position, this time Price doing well to hold onto the ball with Silvestri closing in for the rebound.
Rushall's last chance of the game marked the end of the match, the tireless Perrow running onto a long ball and finding himself clean through, but his shot was poor and easily claimed by Vincent, and it ended one-each.
