The team was unchanged from that which got their first win of the season against Romulus, except up front where Roni Joe was drafted in for his first start in green and white since September 2006.
United made good use of Cinderford's excellent playing surface throughout by keeping possession well and playing the ball around nicely. And the away side created the early chances, Joe having a shot blocked after 9 minutes after O'Grady found Henney had combined and the latter fed Joe.
Aylesbury defended doggedly over the course of the match, and the Ducks rearguard had to be alert when a free-kick was parried by Jack Sillitoe, but the rebound effort was well blocked in the area.
Then two minutes later Richard Kear got past Kavanagh, but showed little of the composure which saw him hit 30 goals last season, and placed his shot well wide.
The Ducks were finding a lot of space down the flanks and a quick throw was taken to Craig Henney in a right-sided position, and his vicious low cross was turned narrowly over his own crossbar by Marvin Thompson.
Cinderford wasted another good opportunity, this time Steve Cowe the guilty party, when he lifted a shot high and wide of the goal having broken into the box.
After Kavanagh headed wide from a corner, the visitors were denied a penalty appeal after Aston Goss had been body checked by Craig Tait just outside the area in referee Mr Williams view. The resulting kick by Mealor grazed the wall and was easily claimed by Matt Bath.
At the other end the Forrester's claimed a free kick of their own, which was powerfully struck and looped up off the Aylesbury wall, drawing a fine save out of young Sillitoe.
Both sides still had chances in the final stages of the half, Henney dribbled into the box but couldn't produce a strong enough shot to trouble Bath. Darryl Addis then added to his side's poor afternoon in front of goal by snatching at a chance and only finding Sillitoe, before Sam Swonnel wildly volleyed over the bar to end the first period.
Cinderford went close early in the second half when Craig Tait was played through, his low shot across goal was tipped just wide as Sillitoe made another good save.
Chances were at a premium though, as both teams looked decent in possession, yet both lacked conviction going forward and it was becoming hard to see where a goal was coming from.
In something of a rare attempt on goal Tim Haddock had a snapshot which was easily gathered by Sillitoe on 51 minutes.
As the half wore on Carl Kavanagh seemed to be the most likely goalscorer, when first he shot over the bar after Cinderford had botched three attempted clearances from a corner. Then the young defender connected with a free-kick but his headed effort was straight at Matt Bath.
Aylesbury showed a strong willingness to press forward, even in the final stages of the game - with Nathan Liburd particularly impressive in his athleticism down the right flank. So much so that he was cynically taken out by Greg Lewis on one foray forward, which earned the home defender the game's only yellow card.
In the final minute one such pacey break from United finally forced a winner. Craig Henney was played in down the left, and he did well to get away from his man before playing a low cross which Nathan Graham had the easy task of tapping into the net from a yard out.
And with that one move Aylesbury had claimed the three points and an impressive win on their travels. With a none too disappointing 7 points from their opening 3 games the Ducks now turn their attentions to the FA Cup, and Saturday's visit of Newport Isle of Wight in the Preliminary Round.
