The game started at a high pace and the home side's passing style was evident in the early stages as they moved the ball around well.
Chances were hard to come by for both sides though, and it wasn't until midway through the half that Aylesbury got in behind the Chasetown defence for the first time, Kevin Mealor persevering on the left before driving the ball across goal. It only needed a touch.
This was Aylesbury's best spell of the match and six minutes later the ball dropped to Roni Joe in the box but he saw his shot blocked by the solid home defence. Mealor then saw a similar chance also blocked moments later.
On 34 minutes Chasetown finally penetrated the Ducks defence with one of their quick moves and Paul Spacey was played in but with the angle against him his effort was cleared out by the legs of Tom Vincent.
Vincent had to be alert again on the stroke of half time when Kyle Perry flicked a header goalwards that looked to be just dipping under the bar, but Vincent got across to tip over.
Half-time: Chasetown 0-0 Aylesbury
The hosts stepped up their game after the break, but chances were still at a premium. Dean Perrow should have done better when he headed a right wing cross but got it all wrong and the ball went well wide.
What turned out to be the winner was scored on 56 minutes. A set piece for Aylesbury broke down allowing Chasetown to race away. The ball was sprayed into the path of Perrow who should've scored, Vincent saving, but the ball rebounded into the path of Perry who easily nodded home. 1-0 Chasetown
Tony Thompson responded by introducing Aston Goss for Justin Gordon, but he struggled to get into the game, likewise fellow substitute Craig Henney who replaced Jamie O'Grady.
A Kevin Mealor free kick was about as good as things got for Aylesbury in the second half, and even that curled a fair distance over the bar.
A series of corners caused Aylesbury problems in the next few minutes, as they seemed to fall to Spacey on each occasion. At the first he saw his shot blocked, then at the second he blazed well over.
The only notable event in the closing ten minutes or so was the introduction of striker Adam Cunnington, a new signing from Hitchin Town and previously with Leighton Town, as a disappointing afternoon came to an end.
