Aylesbury romped to their second 5-0 win of the season thanks to an assured performance against a lacking Stourport Swifts side at Walshes Meadow.

Stourport were a team clearly bereft of any confidence having conceded nine goals in their last two games, including a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Stourbridge the previous weekend, and the inform Ducks quickly started laying into their hosts.

After early efforts from Stevens and Faulkner, it was the former Wycombe man who fired his side into a 10th minute lead when he controlled a pass, waited for the ball to drop before unleashing a crashing volley which left Parker in goal no chance. 1-0 Aylesbury

Such dominance was to continue throughout the first half as chance after chance came the way of the visitors and in reality the scoreline could have been double the eventual three-goal haul United managed in the first half.

Faulkner went close again when he shot over on the turn before Nathan Graham got in on the act volleying wide after another attempt by Faulkner bobbled through to him.

A rare Stourport effort could have caught United out but Alex Lavern rushed his shot and fired wide. Swift's best effort of the first half came from a free kick, Wesley Joyce flicking the ball on to Adam Blake who headed wide when he should at least have hit the target.

Normal service was quickly resumed and Aylesbury had a penalty claim for handball in the area turned down after great play by Mealor to get the ball in. Two minutes later Ross Taylor hit a volley that flew past the upright.

The second Aylesbury goal arrived on 24 minutes. Mealor brought the ball forward before feeding Faulkner who ran at the defence before crossing low and hard from the byline where Graham was lurking in typical fashion to fire home at the far post. 2-0 Aylesbury

It was nearly three seconds later when first Blake made a great tackle to deny Graham at the last moment but the danger wasn't over when Faulkner gathered the ball, but he saw his goal bound effort blocked en route by Chris McComisky.

After Joyce had hammered a free kick over Tom Vincent's bar, the assault on Stourport's goal was soon resumed and Faulkner tried to lob the stranded Parker but the ball dropped just wide. The menace of Faulkner was something the home side never got to grips with, and it was he with another chance two minutes later, a low shot that Parker saved.

Gallant was the next man to be denied, although more by luck than judgement when his shot deflected off a defender and hit Parker in the face before bouncing out. The resultant corner was headed over by Graham.

The long awaited third came on the end of a fine counter attacking move ended with the ball being slid through to Mealor, and he managed to squeeze the ball through the keeper's legs. 3-0 Aylesbury

A half of complete dominance by the Ducks was ended when Graham picked out Taylor who decided to try a first time shot but struck his half-volley wide.

Aylesbury made a scorching start to the second half and it looked like a case of ?how many' they would go on to score. Stevens went close early on and then Faulkner hit the post with a snapshot after Graham had laid the ball off to him.

Faulkner hit the other post just a minute later after showing good strength to see off his man and go for goal from a tight angle, the ball hitting Parker and then the post before going out. Graham once again headed the corner kick over.

But the period of dominance lasted just ten minutes before Aylesbury seemed to ease up on their opponents for the first time of the game and Stourport had some notable spells of possession.

That said, they rarely looked capable of damaging United's backline and it was the Ducks who continued to have the chances, Swonnel hitting a shot wide, Mealor curling a free-kick past the upright and Taylor flicking a headed effort just off target.

A fourth duly arrived, albeit from the penalty spot, with just over fifteen minutes remaining. Faulkner won the kick when he was held back by Adam Harris, and he dusted himself off to convert the kick. 4-0 Aylesbury

Tony Thompson took the luxury of using all three of his substitutions, as on came Andy Shed for Graham, Jason Castello for Liburd and Craig Henney for Gallant.

And it was Shed who completed the rout eight minutes from time when he showed superb technique to deftly lob Parker from range for his first of the season. 5-0 Aylesbury

There was still time for Henney to have a fiercely struck shot well saved by Parker right at the death.

With a little more luck in front of goal the scoreline could have been far greater in this one-sided game, but United's trip to Evesham on Tuesday will prove a far more testing match.
