After the dramatic win over Chesham four days earlier this was a complete anti-climax, a game with fewer than five attempts on goal with neither keeper called into action throughout the ninety minutes.
The best chance of the match came as early as the third minute, and fell to the visitors. Former Aston Clinton man Neil Roberts was played in, his shot rebounding off the advancing Vincent and leaving him with an open goal, but Nathan Liburd made a superb recovery to slide his final effort behind.
Bruce Wilson saw a low free kick easily held by Vincent, and at the other end Faulkner came forward and struck a shot with his left foot which was well caught by Steve Root.
That was as good as things got in the first half hour, the game turning into a stop-start affair as fussy referee Mr Bate attempted to stamp his authority on proceedings but too often seemed to want to be centre of attention.
Before the break a hanging shot from Billy Perry had to be claimed by Vincent and a Ross Taylor cross-shot threatened to cause Leighton damage, but it ended goal-less.
Leighton certainly saw more of the ball in the first period, but didn't seem to have the firepower to threaten their hosts, whilst Aylesbury were all at sea.
Half-time: Aylesbury 0-0 Leighton
Town went close again early in the second half when Gallant missed an interception and the ball ran through to Leon Cashman who shot low, but wide of the goal.
Aylesbury had improved slightly, and possession was now more even, but they were still struggling to play against a Leighton side who gave no time on the ball.
Carl Kavanagh came as close as anyone to breaking the deadlock, striking the ball with the outside of his foot but his effort trickled wide.
Still the match went on with neither side able to break each other down, United were still struggling to string any number of passes together whilst Leighton couldn't turn their possession to any advantage.
Entering the last twenty minutes Leighton could have gone ahead when a half cleared cross fell kindly for Bruce Wilson who cracked a volley goalwards, but the ball struck his own man who was flagged offside.
Then James Faulkner fired Aylesbury's best effort of the game when he hit a rasping drive that flew just wide of the upright.
But that was all either side had to give as the game petered out to a disappointing and frustrating end. The introduction of Craig Henney as a third striker still was enough to spark the Ducks into life, and having only earned a point were replaced at the top of the table by Stourbridge.
