Aylesbury made it through to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in stylish fashion by inflicting an embarrassing 4-1 defeat on Premier Division Mangotsfield United.
On the back of a five match winning run, confidence amongst the team was sky high, and they showed one change in Mark Jones returning for Aaron Flood on the right flank.
The start of the match was a quiet affair, the only action in the opening twenty-five minutes a weak effort from Craig Henney which was easily held by Josh Clapham.
With their next attack, in the 27th minute, the Ducks took the lead. A half cleared corner was crossed back in by Stuart Maynard, and met by Ross Taylor who had arrived unnoticed to side foot home. 1-0 Aylesbury
The goal boosted the Ducks, and Henney went for goal with a half-volley after a neat interchange of passing, but his effort was well caught by Clapham.
Five minutes later Maynard released Henney with a fantastic pass and as he sprinted clear of the defence Clapham was forced to rush from his line, and sent the striker sprawling. Henney dusted himself down and rolled home the penalty to double his side's lead. 2-0 Aylesbury
The two-goal cushion, although deserved, lasted just four minutes when Mangotsfield hit back. A deep free-kick came off the head of Nick Leach into the path of two visiting players, and Alex Ball couldn't miss his two-yard header. 2-1 Aylesbury
Aylesbury quickly steadied themselves after the setback and were soon back on the offensive. Jones, who was excellent throughout, exchanged passes inside the area before running on and having a shot held by Clapham.
Then a great surge from Mealor ended with his cross being cleared as far as Liam Smyth, who crashed a shot over.
Half-time: Aylesbury 2-1 Mangotsfield
Aylesbury were sluggish out of the dressing room, and Vincent had to make an early save to deny Mitchell Page after he had collected a mis-hit low shot from Geraint Bater.
The visitors rarely threatened as they found themselves overrun and outplayed by the excellent Ducks, who comfortably kept themselves at arms length.
Taylor headed a corner kick over, and Maynard had a weak shoot held after Jones got away down the right as Aylesbury continued to make their dominance count.
A rare Mangotsfield effort saw Neil Arndale blaze a shot over the goal, before normal service was resumed as Mealor broke forward and released substitute Nathan Graham whose shot was held by the busy Clapham.
Maynard had a great chance to put the game to bed on the hour mark when Mealor again got forward and delivered a telling ball, Maynard caught by surprise as it eluded the covering defender, and could only get a shot in straight at Clapham from close range.
A number of bookings followed with the pace of the game slowing as the minutes went by, and one of many fouls by Mangotsfield cost them dearly when Maynard stepped up and curled a free-kick which hit the post, then Clapham, and crossed the line. 3-1 Aylesbury
The game was safe for the Ducks, and the one-way traffic continued right up until the final whistle as their opponents looked a spent force.
Mealor, on another rampage forward, teed up Hawkins inside the area, but his shot lacked power.
Graham then had a good chance after being released by a magnificent raking pass by Nick Leach, but his shot was deflected over after the last defender had recovered well to catch him.
The Mangos had two late chances to force a grandstand finish, but they wasted their best chances of the game: Hendy heading over from a corner, then Tippins breaking free and crossing for Marcus Duharty who had a header well saved by Vincent.
Mealor rounded off his, and the team's, superb afternoon with a goal when he yet again got forwards, before driving a low effort goalwards which took a deflection and went into the net. 4-1 Aylesbury
That was the last kick of the game, and ensured that the higher league side were sent home with their tails between their legs, and Aylesbury progressed to the Third Qualifying Round for the first time since 2005.
