Yet again, the Ducks were forced into changes, this time owing to the unavailability of loanees Warren Carter and Pat Sappleton, whilst Miles Mitchell-Coop was also absent. It meant a debut for new centre-back signing Chris Reed, who was superb, and first starts for Lewis Creser and Jack Sillitoe.
United started in determined fashion and after just four minutes had the lead in slightly fortuitous circumstances. Daddy Moses outpaced the defence, and although his shot was saved by the outrushing goalkeeper, it rebounded back up and in off a defender for an own goal. 1-0 Aylesbury
The attacking pace in Aylesbury's ranks was causing Tiptree all kinds of problems, as Kimani, Moses and Calvin Thomas all regularly got in behind the defence.
Paul Rutherford was having a busy game in the early stages and he made a good stop to deny a Calvin Thomas effort after good link up play involving Moses and Dean Thomas in the build up.
Less than a minute later he did better still, producing a superb low save to tip Creser's shot round the post ? in the eyes of everybody but the referee who awarded a goal kick.
It continued to be one way traffic as the midway point of the half approached, and Dean Thomas had two decent chances when first he was played in by Kimani but snatched his shot wide of the target. Then, he found himself one-on-one but Rutherford did well to get off his line quickly and smother the ball.
The visitors mustered their first attempt on goal after 25 minutes when Dean Parratt cracked a decent effort wide from some distance. That was quickly followed by Lewin Ward going on a mazy run, but with the space opening up he could only produce a powder-puff effort straight at Sillitoe.
The deserved second goal arrived just past the half hour mark. Moses this time turned creator as he played the ball through for Kimani who ran on and made no mistake with a crashing high drive. 2-0 Aylesbury
Straight from the kick off Tommy English struck an audacious effort which had Sillitoe backpeddling, before dropping just over the bar. A minute later he had the Aylesbury keeper in action again, this time with a low shot which required a smart save.
Creser was having an impressive full debut in midfield, and he was only denied a goal by a superb defensive block in the area. Sadly, it was to be his last action as he was forced from the field with an apparent rib injury and replaced by another debutant, Manny Richardson.
Only more wastefulness from the Jam-Makers preserved United's clean sheet going into the break, a cross from the right was met by Lee Underwood who could only head over from six-yards.
Half-time: Aylesbury 2-0 Tiptree
It looked like it was to be more of the same from Aylesbury in the second half, as they began strongly with Richardson dragging a shot wide of the target and Moses shooting wide with his left-foot after getting the ball down and running at the defence.
After Richardson had another effort go wide, Chris Dean stepped up to deliver an inswinging free-kick from the right which flashed just past the far post with nobody able to apply the required final touch.
Tiptree hauled themselves back into the game with a goal from their first attack of the second period. Tommy Hayes broke away down the left and found himself in behind the defence, and he was able to fire in from a tight angle. Aylesbury 2-1 Tiptree
The goal served as something of a wakeup call for United, who followed it up with a couple more attacks of their own. Moses again broke free of the defence, got into the box and turned his marker inside out before shooting over the bar.
Kimani then outpaced his man and attempted to cut the ball back for the waiting Moses, only to see it cleared behind by a recovering visiting defender.
As the game wore on Tiptree were creeping back into proceedings and having an increasing amount of joy against a visibly tiring United team. On the whole though, Aylesbury defended soundly and most balls into the box were mopped up by the colossal Reed and the superb Barrett.
It was the Ducks who had the next shot at goal, when the latter of Aylesbury's two sets of fresh legs ? Shiblu Miah and Julio Parague ? tried to lob Rutherford from long range but misjudged the effort.
The final ten minutes seemed to last an eternity and there were some nervy moments for the Greens to endure. Dane Nelson cracked an effort over, then another long ranger flew over the crossbar minutes later as Tiptree started to throw the kitchen sink at the home goal.
The Ducks had Sillitoe to thank for keeping their lead in tact in the last minute when he did well to tip substitute Lewis Bristow's effort over the bar. Then, in stoppage time, Calvin Thomas was in the right place to clear the ball off the line after a corner kick.
After a lengthy six minute period of stoppage time, full time was finally blown and United could celebrate their first win of the season and progress to the 1st Qualifying Round.
