It was United who had the game's first chance when Abdul Yoki fed off Harewood's through ball but saw his shot held by Paul Evans.
Aylesbury were left reeling though as they found themselves two goals down inside nine minutes.
The first came on five minutes, leaving Jack Sillitoe with egg on his face. A free-kick award saw the young keeper retreat back into his goal without watching what was happening, and the alert Chris Cornes quickly took his opportunity to lob the ball in from 25-yards with Sillitoe facing the wrong way. 1-0 Stourport
Four minutes later the challenge facing United was doubled, Cornes the provider this time when he slid the ball through for Nathan Jukes who was left with the simple task of firing past Sillitoe. 2-0 Stourport
The Ducks had a half chance to pull a goal back straight away when Montgomery pulled a shot wide from outside the area having won the ball back himself.
Sillitoe may have been at fault for the first goal, but Aylesbury were indebted to him as he made a number of top class saves in the first half to keep his side in the game. The first came on the fifteen minute mark as United were caught on the counter, Cornes cutting inside of Dean Thomas only to see his low bottom corner-bound shot tipped wide by Sillitoe.
It was proving to be end to end stuff, and Harewood fired in a well struck shot but it was straight at Paul Evans in goal after he battled to win the ball.
Jack Sillitoe then produced another good save to keep out a snapshot from Cornes after the ball was worked back to him following a corner kick that had initially been flicked goalwards by Wittal-Williams.
Cornes had a further effort on goal, afford too much room from a throw-in and hammering the ball over the crossbar.
Montgomery had another shot go wide, but the bulk of the action continued to come at the other end of the pitch. Dean Thomas, preferred in a centre-back berth to the fit again Chris Reed, sliced an attempted clearance into the path of Will Gayton but Sillitoe again was on hand to save well.
A short corner moments later was worked to Jukes who fired a low shot wide, then Jamie Price curled the ball past the upright as Swifts kept up the pressure.
As the half began to draw to a close, the game began to come Aylesbury's way a bit more and a couple of half chances ensued, Montgomery hitting a first time shot over and Ryan Bernard seeing his effort scrambled behind.
Aylesbury's spirits were raised considerably when they pulled a goal back three minutes before the break. Harewood nipped in on the end of an awful defensive header, flicked the ball up over the keeper before tapping it into the empty net. 2-1
Suddenly it was game on again and Stourport were feeling the heat of some sustained pressure by the visitors. It paid off as the Ducks went into half-time level when Chris Dean despatched one of his perfectly placed curling free-kick into the bottom corner after Yoki was fouled on the edge of the area. 2-2
The Ducks had to dig deep to keep Swifts at bay though, Sillitoe tipping over a deep free-kick in stoppage time, and Ashleigh James did superbly to scramble the resulting corner kick off the line amidst protests from the home side that the ball had crossed.
Half-time: Stourport 2-2 Aylesbury
Aylesbury kept their good spell going at the start of the second half and only a great save from Evans prevented them taking the lead when Dean crossed for Harewood whose poked effort was somehow turned wide of the post.
The Ducks didn't have to wait long to take the lead though, and how! Harewood collected the ball on the corner of the area, chest controlled it, before hitting an outrageous left-footed volley that left Evans no chance as it screamed its way just inside the far post. 3-2 Aylesbury
The goal was met with great joy by the travelling Aylesbury contingent, but they were mindful of the fact that their side's defensive lapses meant holding on to their lead for half an hour looked a tall order.
Stourport tried to force the issue by throwing on two attacking substitutes, and United were having a tough time keeping them at bay, but it was them who had the next chance. Harewood was having a stormer up front and he was now full of confidence, showing great strength to turn the defence again but his final shot was easily fielded by Evans this time.
The pressure was mounting as the minutes went by, Cornes was denied by Sillitoe again who saved at his feet after the striker had wriggled away from turned Dean Thomas.
Ninety seconds later Troy Wood also saw an effort kept out by the keeper, but in truth it seemed only a matter of time before the match was level again, and so it proved.
On 72 minutes Will Gayton brought the ball inside from the right wing, and tucked away a well placed left-footed finish. 3-3
Swifts' momentum was unrelenting, Sillitoe made yet another great save as he denied Wood again who had managed to ride three challenges before getting in a shot.
The second comeback of the afternoon was then completed when the home side took the lead, just two minutes after drawing level. A deep corner came all the way across the box to Scott Morris who fired home. 4-3 Stourport
Yoki had a low shot go wide having brought the ball forward, and Bernard hit a shot on the turn straight at Evans as the Ducks looked for a way back into the game but they were finding the going tough.
Dean Thomas had a good chance to level the match again when Daddy Moses' cut back spooned up into his path, but he couldn't make a clean connection with his volley and the ball trickled wide.
Instead, Stourport added a fifth in the final minute of the game, taking advantage of Aylesbury pushing forwards by launching a counter-attack which was ended by the ball twice being squared across the box before eventually it reached Cornes who couldn't miss. 5-3 Stourport
There was still time for a ninth goal of the afternoon, as Aylesbury reduced the arrears again. Harewood squared the ball for Moses in the area and he finished sweetly past Evans. 5-4
It was little consolation though as the net result of the match was still the same for the Ducks, and the search for their first league point of the season continues.
