In their 2nd friendly as a build up towards the league starting Aylesbury Ladies played what turned out to be a very competitive match against Brackley. Within 8 minutes Aylesbury found themselves a goal down. For the next 15 minutes Aylesbury inserted some pressure resulting in two efforts each from Sue Wynes and
Leigh Reed, but to no avail. In the 22nd minute
Bethan Harris passed to Sue Wynes who scored to equalise the score, 3 minutes later Sue Wynes took a pass from
Gemma Franklin to put the Ducks in the lead. Half time arrived with no further score from either side.
Aylesbury continued to put pressure on Brackley resulting in a further goal from Gemma Franklin after good passing between Sue Wynes and Leigh Reed. 10 minutes later Sue Wynes nearly completed her hat trick but her shot went just wide when one on one with the goal keeper. Aylesbury ladies seemed to tire and gradually Brackley got back into the game, firstly Lucy Ilic cleared one off the line but Aylesbury could not stem Brackley?s attacks resulting in two goals from the home side, the 2nd in the last minute.
It was a good competitive game in very warm conditions. Aylesbury did not use any subs, so it was understandable they tired in the last 15 minutes. Never the less it was a good run out for Aylesbury and helped with their fitness to go up another level.
