Before the game nobody would have guessed the outcome with United, full of confidence following their impressive 3-0 win over Hillingdon the previous week, coming up against the side fifth from bottom in the league.
But a catalogue of errors, some woeful defending, and a lack of spark in attack meant the home side were worthy of their result, and Aylesbury must now pick themselves up, and quickly, with a visit to Langford and then a massive FA Vase game on the horizon.
Hadley were the first to threaten when, in just the fourth minute, Ola Williams won a corner from which the ball ran all the way across to Bahir Elsawahli but he couldn?t turn the ball into the net on the half volley.
The home side?s attacking pace was certainly causing problems for the Ducks, with man-mountain Melford Simpson the spearhead, and it was he who duly opened the scoring with fifteen minutes on the clock.
Coulter lost the ball out wide on the left, and it was quickly worked down the line before being crossed from the right wing by Williams into the box where Simpson somehow ghosted in unnoticed to tap home... quite an achievement for a man who made John Mulholland look small. 1-0 Hadley
Aylesbury looked to respond almost immediately and they went close when a Wood free-kick fell to him, his volley grazing the post as it flew wide.
Simpson continued to give United?s defence a torrid time and he nearly scored again with a left footed effort having turned Justin Gordon inside out after being released.
The Ducks were struggling to open up their hosts, and whilst they had plenty of chances in the first half they were all coming from set plays.
On another day Mulholland might have had a hat-trick, as he poked an effort goalwards which was blocked midway through the first half. He then went close from two identical Garcia corners within seconds of each other, the first drawing a fine tip over from Russell Garland, the second headed narrowly over.
United did find a way back into the match through Justin Gordon of all people, who met Garcia?s deep corner with an outrageous volley that dipped into the top corner. 1-1
Unfortunately, he followed that up by showing the less favourable side to his game by miss kicking the ball in the area which presented Ola Williams the kind of scoring chance he wasn?t going to refuse as he slotted home from 10-yards out. 2-1 Hadley
Again Aylesbury nearly hit back straight away, this time Edgeworth volleying over when he had more time to get the ball under control.
Garland had to make another decent save as Mulholland was out of luck again when his prodded effort goalwards was turned around the post by the home keeper, with the United defender then heading the subsequent corner over the bar.
Simpson fancied his chances again as the half came to a close when he broke free once more but tried an early shot which caused no problems for Sillitoe.
Aylesbury should have equalised moments before half-time when Coulter jinked his way past several defenders before teeing up Joey Acheampong who could only fire well over, his one saving grace that the ball took a deflection with a corner kick awarded.
Half-time: Hadley 2-1 Aylesbury
The Ducks made a fairly bright start to the second period as they looked to get back on level terms quickly. Mulholland?s header from a deep Jack Wood free kick was easily held by Garland, before the keeper was extended a bit more by a Coulter run and shot which had to be beaten away a minute later.
Hadley had a half chance to extend their lead following a moment of uncertainty by Garcia at the back, who failed to clear the ball before Sillitoe couldn?t hold onto it and nearly allowed Reynolds to capitalise.
Baines replaced the hard working but ineffective Acheampong on 56 minutes, but it didn?t do much to raise United?s performance and eight minutes later Hadley were gifted another goal that settled the result.
Mulholland?s square pass was telegraphed by Williams who quickly switched it left to Mark Dawson. With the defence still out of position he crossed for Simpson to nod home his second. 3-1 Hadley
A minute later Robbie Keane collected his first yellow card and amongst his constant protestations was warned by referee Mr Henderson to keep his mouth closed from then on.
Lewis Christon was introduced to the fold as United altered their shape to three at the back as they chased a way back into the game, but the greens continued struggling to make inroads past a strong home defence with Edgeworth?s blocked shot and an ambitious long ranger from Mulholland which rolled wide the closest they came for some time.
As they pushed forwards, Aylesbury were caught cold at the back as Hadley gleefully added a fourth to their tally ten minutes from time. United?s defence were all at sea as Elsawahli and substitute Medfai linked up well before the latter coolly finished past Sillitoe. 4-1 Hadley
United wasted a couple of late chances to save some face when Coulter met a corner kick with a free-header which flew over the bar. Four minutes later Wood fed McCormick down the line and his pinpoint cross was headed over by Baines when it looked easier to score.
Instead, it was Hadley who had the final say. Simpson again threatened when he turned Christon far too easily before drawing a save out of Sillitoe, but two minutes later he made no mistake and completed his hat-trick. With no defenders in sight he broke clean through and rounded Sillitoe (who did well not to bring him down) before rolling the ball into the empty net from a tight angle. 5-1 Hadley
That was goodnight Aylesbury who by now just wanted to get off the pitch as soon as possible. Robbie Kean sped up his exit by talking his way to a second yellow card and an early dismissal, which just about summed up a truly miserable afternoon for the Ducks.
