Aylesbury had all the early pressure with winger Susie Cole being a constant thorn in Brize Norton’s side with her penetrating runs down the flank and it was from one of these forays forward that the Ducks opened the scoring on nine minutes.
Cole’s cross found Leigh Reed in space and the experienced midfielder made no mistake with a low drive into the net
United continued to dominate but had to wait until ten minutes before the break to double their advantage. Striker Kerry Naisbitt had had two efforts cleared off the line before finding it was third time lucky, converting another Cole cross at the far post.
Three minutes after the restart Aylesbury added a third, when summer signing Rachel Saunders picked up the ball on the half way line and drove forward taking on three players before placing an unstoppable shot past the diving keeper to record her first for the club.
The Oxfordshire side pulled a goal back on the hour mark and for a short period threatened to do more damage. However the United back line held firm and two goals in as many minutes finally finished off the match as a contest midway through the half.
Both came from substitute Kay Norton, returning from a long injury layoff. The first a neat lob when played through by Cole, the second an even better effort when she found herself in space once again.
Norton was then denied her hat-trick but as the match fizzled out it was Aylesbury who deservedly took the points, giving themselves a platform to build on for the long season ahead.
