Looking to build on the previous week’s victory Aylesbury were forced to make changes with four of their squad unavailable but the new look back four never looked out of place and the central pairing of Sarah Gerrard and Emma Gardner look like they’d played together for years.
In the end it was an early goal which cost the Ducks the points as the home side broke down the slope and fired home in the eighth minute.
Both sides had chances to change that though with Leigh Reed having an effort saved for United before a Kerry Naisbitt free kick was turned just wide.
Aylesbury had to endure a few frantic minutes before the break as Headington firstly missed an open goal before they forced keeper Carly Swain into a magnificent save in what looked like a certain goalscoring opportunity.
After the break the Ducks were rarely troubled and with a bit more fortune would have equalised.
Susie Cole’s free kick just evaded everyone as it swung invitingly across the area and a Naisbitt free kick went just the wrong side of the post from an acute angle.
Despite the result this was another improved Aylesbury performance with several squad players staking a claim for a more regular starting place.
