Their opponents had barely touched the ball when the Ducks went ahead inside the first minute. New signings Tara Woodward and Kayleigh Forsythe combined with the latter lobbing over the keeper from outside the penalty area
Woodward had a couple of chances to get her name on the scoresheet within a frenetic opening spell before the visitors drew level from a corner
United have a number of new faces to supplement the squad this season, a blend of youth and experience, so it’s hardly surprising that they took time to settle into their normal passing game. As the match progressed however their confidence grew and by the end of the half they were playing some good flowing football
The Langley keeper pulled off a fine double save to deny Woodward and then thwarted Laura Warmbier, turning her shot away for a corner low to her right
Ten minutes before half time in a rare foray forward the visitors surprisingly took the lead as stand in keeper Beanie Cameron was unsighted at the near post, the second goal with a hint of assistance from an Aylesbury player
There was still time for the evergreen Leigh Reed to burst through the defence though but her shot flew just over the crossbar and Katie Squire almost finished a lovely Aylesbury move right on time
After the interval United took charge and a little under ten minutes into the half the scores were level again. The lively Tara Woodward took on two defenders and coolly slid the ball under the keeper to notch a debut goal
Substitute Jess Foster set up Reed for a chance which went just wide before another replacement Anna Thompson picked out Woodward with a great ball and once again the youngster made no mistake and the Ducks were ahead
Captain Sarah Gerrard almost increased her side’s lead with a strong run and shot before the game was finally put beyond Kings Langley’s reach in emphatic style with five minutes to go as Kayleigh Forsythe added her second of the match with a superb strike from twenty five yards
Stalwarts Beanie Cameron and Jen Lambie also went close late on but the victory was United’s in any case and the team can look to continue their rebuilding process next week at home to Leighton United Reserves
