Greg is known as 'The Leader' having captained the club in his first spell well over a decade ago, returning for a second stint on the eve of the 2012/13 season after three seasons with Aylesbury FC. His first 200 appearances for the club were amassed over five seasons having joined in 2001 having been spotted playing for Thame United.
His first season saw him play fifty games under manager Cliff Hercules during the club's Ryman League promotion season, as a right-back, including a memorable outing to Port Vale in the FA Cup 1st Round.
Following that point, he perhaps became a victim of his versatility, often being moved around the team. Under Steve Cordery in 2002/03 he was used predominantly as a midfielder, but featured in just about every position going in midfield and defence. The following year serious knee injury saw him miss much of the campaign, but having worked back to full fitness he sampled football elsewhere with moves to Oxford City, Banbury United and then Aylesbury FC.
Having made the switch back to the Ducks in 2012, he went on to cement himself as a key member of the midfield and enjoyed promotion with the Ducks back to the Southern League in 2013, before going on to play another full seven seasons before finally hanging up his boots in 2020.
Immensely popular with supporters for his workaholic nature, Greg always gave 100% and fought to the death for the team, and, whilst playing for the Ducks into his mid-40s, still retained better fitness levels than many of his younger counterparts! Also capable of scoring, he weighed in with a fair share of goals down the years - 44 in total - with none more memorable than his wonder-strike against Braintree in a 2003/04 FA Cup match.
Greg will also be well remembered for a number of appearances in goal during his Aylesbury career, the first coming when deputising for the injured Adam Wheeler, the last when covering for Jack Sillitoe away at Uxbridge, his memorable performances between the sticks just another supporters' highlight of a wonderful career with the club.
