A cruciate ligament injury saw John ruled out for the entire 2013/14 season, and his rehabilitation saw him spend time with New Bradwell St Peter and Thame United before linking up again with United in preseason 2015/16, but unfortunately was unable to rediscover top form before joining Winslow United on a dual registration, where he was subsequently named manager in March 2016.
