Manager Dave Tuttle chose to make a number of changes to the starting XI for the match against lowly placed Beaconsfield Town. Remy Mitchell made his debut in goal in place of the suspended Jack Hopwood, while Haziz Kone, Sonny French and Will St Clair-Burton returned to the starting line up in place of the unavailable Morrison Hashii and Brandon Green and Ben Peters, who both took a seat on the subs bench. Of note, the match signalled the 400th appearance of defensive stalwart Jake Bewley.
The visitors, a much-changed side since the appointment of new manager Sam Togwell 2 weeks ago, looked lively from the start; a Kone pass across midfield was intercepted by Eremide Lawal, who played it forward to Joshua Marcon; he in turn found giant centre forward Manuchim Oke-William on the edge of the penalty area, whose shot was well saved low to his left by Mitchell.
In the 14th minute, a Liam Batchelor-Morgan throw was flicked into the path of St Clair-Burton, but his flicked attempt sailed wide of the target.
Two minutes later Troy Silvera played a ball down the left flank to Lawal, who spotted Marcon up in support. However, when played the ball, his shot from 15 yards was dragged wide of the goal.
A volleyed clearance from Jack Wood landed at the feet of Luqman Kassim wide on the left; he worked his way inside Jacques Kpohomouh before firing a shot from 25 yards which flew across goal and out for a goal kick.
The Rams made a quick break forward in the 24th minute, Elias Grant finding Lawal on the left, who made ground past Batchelor-Morgan and broke into the penalty area, but Mitchell was out quickly to smother his shot.
Just before half time a ball out of defence found Lawal who passed it on to Elias on the right side of the penalty area; his shot from 15 yards beat Mitchell, but not for the first time in his illustrious career, Wood was on hand to clear the ball off the line.
Half-time: Aylesbury 0-0 Beaconsfield
Three minutes into the second half the Rams took the lead; a good move down the right saw Elias pull the ball back to Marcon on the edge of the penalty area, who moved the ball to his left into the path of Silvera, who fired a left foot shot past Mitchell from 18 yards, with the aid of a deflection off a Ducks boot. 1-0 Beaconsfield
Just before the hour mark, a foul on Kamil Zielinski by Ben Tricker saw a free kick awarded; Ben Stallard took the free kick but saw his shot easily saved by Edward Brearey in the visiting goal.
The visitors came close to extending their lead shortly afterwards, when Lawal collected the ball and turned towards goal before passing to Marcon who shot just wide of the goal.
A second goal did arrive in the 63rd minute, but in controversial circumstances. With the Ducks appealing for what appeared to be a blatant hand ball in the build-up, Silvera swung a cross towards Oke-William on the edge of the penalty area. Kian Henry did well to win the aerial challenge, but saw the ball fall to Elias who played a quick pass to Marcon, who fired into the far corner past Mitchell. 2-0 Beaconsfield
There was almost a third in the 69th minute, when a cross from Silvera was met by a first-time volley, which flew just wide of the goal. With 8 minutes remaining on the clock, a long ball forward by Akiel Raffie found Oke-William, who chested the ball down to Silvera 20 yards from goal; he hit a powerful shot that was goal bound, until Mitchell flew across his goal to tip the shot around the post.
Two late chances first saw Jake Bewley take a free kick from 30 yards, but saw his effort rise over the crossbar, before Sonny French made a trademark slaloming run through the defence before feeding Zielinski 6 yards out, but his attempt was well blocked by Brearey
The final whistle was sounded shortly afterwards, to signal a game when the Ducks had been outplayed by an impressive Beaconsfield team. No time to dwell on the defeat though, as Biggleswade come to town on Tue 19th, the rearrangement of the game that was postponed shortly before kick-off 4 weeks ago.
